Laharandota - the Artists’ Cottage and Studio - was thoroughly and thoughtfully restored in 2008 from an existing farmhouse built from local stone. Comprising a detached cottage, outbuilding with utilities, an old stone loft/barn (The Studio), the property enjoys spectacular views over Dunmanus Bay and the West Cork countryside. Many original features have been retained to create a unique and peaceful atmosphere which compliments the surrounding land and sea. This beautiful detached cottage and studio are nestled on the hillside, surrounded by a large, mature garden overlooking the bay. It even has its own small outdoor, solar-heated swimming pool!
Inside the Cottage there are three bedrooms upstairs (with king, twin and single beds), family bathroom and en suite shower room to the master bedroom. Downstairs there's a large open-plan kitchen/living room with open fire, leather sofa and armchair and eat-in kitchen with cosy Rayburn range cooker. To the back of the house is a study with single sofa bed and a lovely sun room with sea and garden views.
The Studio is a separate self-contained converted barn next to the Cottage, comprising a small kitchen-lounge area with adjacent sun room with sea views and doors to the poolside patio. The sun room has its own en suite shower room and single iron day bed with trundle to form a king or twin bed. Upstairs is a king bedroom, second en-suite shower room and extensive sea views from the large French doors.
Located 4 miles west of local village Kilcrohane, and a scenic half-hour drive from the busy market town of Bantry with its great restaurants and pubs, Laharandota is an ideal place for those looking for a relaxing holiday or weekend retreat: for walkers and cyclists, couples or families, and their dogs - all also most welcome! Stroll down the lane from the Cottage directly on to The Sheep's Head Way, one of Ireland's best way-marked trails. The natural wild beauty of this peninsula makes it an outstanding destination, to be enjoyed with the rustic charms of Laharandota and all the comforts of home.
